The Territories of Aloha are Royal Patent Estates
The Mahele Land Patenting system of ko Hawaii pae aina is unique in that the traditional indigenous knowledge of the aina was blended with the modern western system of domain patenting. The archipelago territories were patented into a greater estate of the sovereign, King Kamehameha Ekahi (first) and then patented into private parcels with reserves to the kanaka Maoli which are patent covenants for the people of Maoli descent by Kamehameha Ekolu (third) the constitutional monarch in 1839.
The Royal Family of the Princess of Aloha were granted Royal Patent Estates with patent covenants called "koe nae na kuleana o na kanaka," and the patents have never been conveyed outside of their estates, now the territories of the Principality of Aloha. The initial Territorial Estates of Aloha, are Makaiwa, Hamakuapoko, Hamakualoa, Hananui, Halelena and Kauaula, on the island of Maui and, the ahupuaa of Kaluakoi on the island of Molokai. The newly established government voted in on 12-12-12 will add estates as development and growth increases, to support the communities of Aloha.
